چکیده

Three population groups (two of them consisting of school-going children) with a low content of fluoride in the drinking water have been used to investigate parameters influencing fluoride excretion. For the population living in an area contaminated by F-air pollution, there was no significant effect of age or sex from 3 to 17 years. For the population living in a non-contaminated area, there is an increase with age. The data are distributed according to log normal. To determine these excretion levels, first-morning samples were used and it is concluded that for population research (not necessarily for individuals) this is more practical than 24-h samples and yield reliable results. To correct for urine concentration, correlation with Ca2+, Cl- and creatinine were investigated. Low or insignificant correlations were obtained.

Urinary fluoride excretion in children drinking fluoridated school milk.

OBJECTIVE To determine fluoride excretion under various conditions of fluoride intake and to estimate the fractional urinary excretion of fluoride in individual children participating in a school milk fluoridation scheme. DESIGN In the first part of the study, individual urine samples were collected from each of eight 4 to 5-year-old children for a continuous period of 55 h. For each child (n...

Urinary fluoride excretion by children 4-6 years old in a south Texas community.

This study evaluated urinary fluoride excretion by school children 4-6 years old who were living in a south Texas rural community that had concentrations of fluoride in drinking water supplies generally around the optimal level. We took supervised collections of urine samples in the morning and afternoon at school, and parents of the participating students collected nocturnal samples. We record...

Urinary fluoride excretion in children exposed to fluoride toothpaste and to different water fluoride levels in a tropical area of Brazil.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the urinary fluoride excretion of 2- to 7-year-old children exposed to different water fluoride concentrations in the city of Catolé do Rocha, PB, Brazil. Forty-two children were allocated to 3 groups according to the concentration of fluoride in the water: G1 (n=10; 0.5-1.0 ppm F), G2 (n=17; 1.1-1.5 ppm F) and G3 (n= 15; >1.51 ppm F). The study was carried...

Total fluoride intake and urinary excretion in 4-year-old Iranian children residing in low-fluoride areas.

Knowledge of levels of fluoride ingestion and excretion is important in planning optimum fluoride therapy for young children. In previous literature, it has been assumed that only about one-third of ingested fluoride is excreted in young children. The aims of the present study were (a) to measure total fluoride intake, urinary fluoride excretion and fluoride balance, and (b) to investigate the ...

Urinary fluoride excretion in children aged 3 to 5 years exposed to fluoridated salt at 60 to 90 mgF/Kg in two Venezuelan cities. A pilot study.

The aim of the present work was to obtain information on the total urinary fluoride concentration and excretion of Venezuelan children at the age of 3 to 5 years, as part of a program to monitor fluoride ingestion. A 24 hour urine sample was collected from each of 63 children, between 3 and 5 years of age and analyzed for (i) total urinary volume (ml), (ii) urinary flow rate (ml/h), (iii) fluor...
